Fire Investigation and Inspection

The Department maintains a certified Fire Inspector and Arson Investigator responsible to determine cause and origin of any suspicious fire. If the cause of the fire is determined to be arson, the investigator works with Police Division personnel in identifying the perpetrator(s), seeking criminal charges, and prosecuting the perpetrator(s). Arson is a serious problem causing millions of dollars of damage and multiple deaths nationwide each year. The Department Fire Inspector is also responsible for reviewing building plans to insure all Fire safety codes are met. The Inspector also does commercial, industrial, and public facility inspections upon request.
