            The successful candidate will serve under the general direction of the Director of Public Works, assisting and/or performs planning, field survey, project management, inspection, computerized drafting, design and office/field work in connection with the construction of sewers, water mains, sidewalks, roadways, bridges and other municipal projects.  Provides technical expertise and professional engineering services for a wide range of projects of the City of Big Rapids.  Ensures that projects are completed in accordance with applicable laws, codes, ordinances and accepted practices.   Bachelor’s degree in Civil engineering or comparable field of study is required. Five (5) years of experience in project engineering and management, preferably in a municipal government setting required. Candidates must possess a valid State of Michigan Driver’s License and be a registered State of Michigan Professional Engineer (or the ability to obtain the Professional Engineer’s License within six months of hire.) Candidates must possess a thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, materials and equipment of civil engineering as applied to the design and construction of municipal infrastructures.
